Anti-slip protection

A diversity of products for anti-slip protection

Anti-slip protection on the roof is crucial for preventing falls from high hights. For example, our ICE-GRIP is a complement to roof shovelling and conventional snow fences. However, it implicates no mechanical installation. To be exact, the roof is covered with a see-through, rubber-like coat and a non-slip granulate. This stops snow from gliding. In other words, the snow remains on the roof and melt away from below.

To apply ICE-GRIP you just paint it on with a brush or a roller. Afterward, when ICE-GRIP has hardened, it sticks to the roof while the protruding non-slip granulate stays in place in the hardened coating. Consequently, the non-slip protection secures the snow and ice.

Our product is UV-resistant. Also, it protects the roof against weather and wind. In addition, the product can be applied on the entire roof or onto exposed portions of the roof. Likewise, ICE-GRIP sticks to wood, concrete, asphalt, slate, marble, ceramic tiles, glass, fibreglass and plastic.

Safety on the roof cannot be underestimated. To clarify, a vertical drop of more than two metres needs approved security regulations for personal safety. Likewise, low roof slopes and vertical drops must have devices for anchoring working personnel on the roof.

As the only supplier on the market that works solely with roof safety, we at CW Lundberg have 30 years long experience in the business. Furthermore, based on customer utility and safety, as well as from an environmental perspective, we are continuously refining our products.

Our business in its current form was established in 1993. Since then, we have developed a complete range of products, all of which are developed, manufactured and delivered from our factory in Mora.

Fall protection requirements

Standards for permanent guardrails on roofs have not yet been established. They are currently being developed. In the meantime, selected portions of the standards for permanent guardrails within industry and temporary guardrails in the construction industry are used.

When approving anchoring points for personal fall protection, these are subjected to dynamic tests with a weight of 100 kg falling vertically from 2.5 without coming loose from the roof, and static tests of 1000 kg hanging freely for 3 minutes.

Remember that

In order to avoid the pendulum effect when falling from the outer corners of the roof, where the roof slopes less than 27%, and extra anchoring is needed at anchoring points located approximately 2 m in from the roof foot/roof edge.

Anchoring at the ridge must not be done closer than 2 metres from the gable. For example, dragline or rail systems must terminate 2 metres in from the edge of the gable.
